Avril Lavigne: New Album a Flop?

Avril Lavignes’ new album seems like a big flop. The Florida “Sun-Sentinel” compared her songs to Kelly Clarkson (“Since U Been Gone”) and claims that they are not original anymore. Others compared her songs to Shania Twain and would rename the title of her new CD with “The Worst Damn Thing” instead of “The Best Damn Thing”. Well, there are always people who either love or hate her! Here are pictures from the CD release party in New York.

    Her album isn’t a flop – it’s charted very well across the world. Selling thousands of copies and in some countries going gold on pre-orders alone!

    Tens of thousands of copies were sold in the UK in the first hour alone!

    It’s certainly a more upbeat album, but there’s still the element of punk rock that makes it Avril Lavigne – comparing it to Kelly Clarkson is stupid, Kelly is just pop. Avril is much more.

    she IS definately not punk rock. She’s just some pop teeny bopper who THINKS shes punk rock. she needs to get over herself. Her lyrics are like cliche and even my four year old niece could write better ones.

    Shes only selling albums becaused all the teenyboppers think she’s “cool”…. *coughcough* >>

    well………………….avril is basically a pop artist…..who thinks using guitars wud make her songs sound like rock ..she has an ok voice n is reigning only coz of her looks,n her wannab punk style………i don’t think she really deserves the attention she gets..n as for ppl who luuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvvv her music ..wat do i say they apparently ain’t got any idea abt rock music anyway…and her new album sounds even worse and out of taste…so this goes out to all avril lavigne fans “grow up”!!!!!!!

    comparing avril to kelly is perfect! haha so right, if you listen to both of their new singles without watching the videos youll see how similar they do actually sound, girlfriend is not a punk song but a pop song with [what is considerd] a punk video, now i dont hate avril but i hate the people who think that she is punk or that listening to music makes them punk it doesnt shes a pop star accept it, for quality punk look up nz band The Rabble- their quite good nd very punk

    ok yeah avril is a star and they are all the same but u know wat yeah she changed but threw ouut the years shes stayed pretty normal/ cool she is not afraid to change with each passing year and she still has that i dont give a f*** aditude
    which most people love its almost like like it or leave it but i dont judge but i personaly think that she is doing what most starts sould not be afraid of doing .. taking it as it comes an bein her self.

    Okay..today i gained even more respect for avril. Listen to her first two CD’s..the lyrics are fucking amazing. If you say shit like, “my four year old niece can write better” you obviously can’t sense the beauty and depth of the words in her songs.
    I love you avril, grew up with you, and will continue to listen to your music.
